It's not about just the ads on bases...its more about over commercialization of pretty much everything.

I don't really care about the whole thing but I agree with Team327. Who's going to see them? It's just going to look like a colored patch to everyone else.

And maybe I'm missing something but how is showing Spiderman ads in new and funky ways (that you can't see) supposed to bring a younger audience to the ballpark? If anything, they should show baseball stuff during the Spiderman movie or during kiddie shows, not the other way around.

"We need to reach out to a younger demographic to bring them to the ballpark,"

Sooooo.... put ads for spider man on the bases... and more kids will come to see the ads? I dont' think so. That line is a PR line, it's a lie. it's advertising to bring in money... has nothing to do with getting the youger crowd into more games.

I'm pretty sure the telecasts of the games will make a big deal about the ads and show several closeups of the bases, just to point out that "hey, there's ads on the bases!"

I saw something on CNN today that said MLB pulled the plug on the idea because of so much negative opinion from fans.

good, only thing that would come of it is more focus and controversy over the bases and ad than the actual game.
