Yes it is a good camera, in fact I think Rick has that camera (possibly the 8000 though). I have seen great pics out of it from various people.

Wow that's really cheap for a DSLR, although I guess it's probably because it can't change lenses and is only 3 megapixels.
I just read the Cnet review of it, they seemed to like its feature set but were somewhat disappointed with image quality.

There's no little window on the front for a viewfinder.
Although technically it's not an SLR, because the viewfinder is a small LCD behind a lens, rather than actually looking through the lens with a pentaprism and a mirror.
