1st of all...Chiro's don't massage people. Chiro's adjust your subluxations. Unless they are certified or licensed massage therapist as well as a Chiropractor...but most do one or the other.

Heat and relaxation and massage if you can get an appt. I've had back problems for the last 12 years and have been to chiro's, regular dr.s and massage therapist...and im a massage therapist myself...im telling you what should work based on my experience and my education.

If it is your back that is hurting you shouldn't have a hernia, pulled muscle most likely. See a doctor and they should give you pain medication along with mild muscle relaxers (non-narcotic).
a herniated disk is a possibility..but i doubt thats what it is in this case. like you said, he probably just "pulled" a muscle.
