FTP program
I signed up with a webhost but it says I need to use an FTP program to connect to my subdomain. What the hell is a FTP program and why do I need one? What is it for, what does it do and what is a good one to use. As you can tell by the questions, I'm a noob to this so keep that in mind when suggesting one.
"FTP" is an old fashioned but very popular way to move files economically so that they can be stored on the space you've purchased.
If you were using AOL, all you'd need to know is Keyword = FTP. LOL...
However, there are lots of cheap and free FTP programmes that'll do the job for you.
I'll suggest you visit download.com and search for "Cute FTP" and give it a go.
You will need to know the domain names and password(s) supplied by your hosting company.
Once you get used to it, it's very easy.

WS-FTP would be a good choice. U can also use internet explorer. Just type in the address as ftp://xxxxxxxxxx if nothing comes up there is an option in ie that allows u to turn ftp on. Do so and it should show up, simply drag and drop files onto the ftp window.
cute ftp was recommended to me, although as stated above it's only a trial version. I did see ws ftp pro, but it too is a trial. I'm gonna try internet explorer as stated above as see what happens.
