i ride w/ a friend of mine who rides a 600f4i & he can smoke my ass. my 954 takes him on the straights, but he blows me away once we him the twisties because his 600 isn't as picky w/ the throttle inputs & is lighter so he can toss it better in the turns.

as far as dragging, the good thing about getting out off the bike w/ the knee out is you can have the bike in a more upright position @ the same speed as a rider who isn't hanging out. this means you have more available steering input available for a situation. it doesn't look it to the common person, but it is actually sooooo much safer.
