well, mostly because I live with a fag and a hag (pardon the language, just using in terms of the saying). I see the interaction every day. There is something just not right about it.

i have had a ton of male gay friends, and yes, we hung out together a lot! it's the best of all worlds, really. we get the male/testoterone influence, without them trying to get in our pants! we can go shopping together, and they don't complain about being bored. they're honest about how we look in clothes. we can look at hot guys together. a girl's best friend is often a gay man.
don't feel intimidated. it's not your fault you're straight. :dunno:
