Whats up braddah! Holla at me and Bri when youre in town.

Ramen: Santouka inside Mitsuwa Market http://www.yelp.com/biz/santouka-ramen-san-diego

Carne Asada: There are TONS of places but my favorite taco shop is JV's. Very nondescript but a solid winner. Been going here for almost 20 years http://www.yelp.com/biz/jvs-mexican-food-san-diego

Fish tacos? By far the best are at South Beach Bar and Grill in Ocean Beach http://www.yelp.com/biz/south-beach-...ille-san-diego

Also note worthy is TJ oyster bar (also out of the way) but the smoked mmarlin or tuna tacos are CRAZY good. Shit their entire menu is stupid good. http://www.yelp.com/biz/tj-oyster-bar-bonita

If you have time, check out sunset cliffs (take 8 west straight onto sunset cliffs blvd and drive until you see the ocean on your right side.)

Mission Beach has "Belmont Park" which is a seaside beach boardwalk type carnival with a roller coaster.

The zoo is also a good time and the downtown marina has Seaport village (fun vendors and crafts) and the USS Midway ( awesome if youre a kid or military buff). There's also Sea World which is always fun and Legoland

For beach time, la Jolla is nice, but its too cold right now for the beach. Maybe just drive down to Coronado (5 south to coronado bridge (free) left on orange and turn right before the Hotel Del Coronado (the big red hotel you cant miss it))

PM m if you dont have my cell. When are you visiting?

Damn, some solid advice and recommendation. I'm coming in Jan 28 to Feb 1. I will be bringing the wife and my 1.5 year old, so probably have to schedule around him. Let me see if the wife and kids want to meet some Haners. Thanks for the recommendation.

I third Jay's comments except I don't really eat ramen. Heide suggests Tajima in Hillcrest on 6th. But there is a new Japanese restaurant in town that is PACKED all the time. Reminded me of Jiro dreams of sushi. Do reservation only! Kokoro (http://www.yelp.com/biz/kokoro-restaurant-san-diego-2).

Other things to do on top of Jay and Arthur's responses:
San Diego Maritime Museum
(If you're doing the zoo, lemme know because I have passes you can use)
