Default Riddle me this HANers with kid(s)

My kid who is 16 months old is starting to feel embarrass when he poos, so now he finds a corner to go poo in. How do infants know that it is awkward to poo in front of other people? I know, dumb question.

My son is 2 1/2 and still does it...He pees fine... but when he needs to poop he either holds it, finds a corner to be alone, or just waits it out until we put him down for a nap.

I don't know what the reasoning for this is...

When it comes to the peeing, hes potty trained. He pees in the toilet by himself without the need to remind him.

It's that pooping thats the killer h:

Do you guys say 16/18 month old because of your wives or because you think of terms of months?

Just curious... as soon as the little guy hit 1 I stopped with the months... he was a year old.

He learns that he should be shy about it from you guys. Little kids pick up on even subtle reactions. I am sure over the last 18months you guys have mentioned how it smelled bad and he caught on.

I talk in terms of months until they are 2-3 years old. It is just much more representative of where they are developmentally. But I work in pediatrics. For parents it really doesn't matter if you talk in months or years. Although at this age kids clothes are in months so it makes shopping easier if you are already thinking that way.

How things have changed. We are discussing our children's psychology on HAN now? We use to just talk about breasts.
