"The courts are handling the cases as they should--if they're frivolous, they're thrown out. That's what everyone else has to go through, and I'm not sure why there's any special case to be made for this industry to have their cases tried in the United States Congress rather than the court. These are not poor struggling businesses who can't defend themselves against unfounded legal claims."

That sounds reasonable to me...it's not like anyone has actually won a lawsuit against McDonald's yet such that they need to worry about getting it banned by Congress.

talk about a waste of time and money in our justice system. its really about time people take responsibility in their own actions.

you would think so, but someone actually did win a frivolous lawsuit (think hot coffee). how was that mcdonald's fault? obviously something needed to be done, and i'm glad it was..

Many Democrats opposed the bill
i had figured the 139 votes against were probably mostly the dems, i was right. seriously, are they that out of touch with the american public that they think it's ok to allow these absurdities to continue?

Thats why I liked Sweden and Denmark (among many other places, I'm sure)... You can do whatever stupid stuff you want, and nobody will try and stop you because they know its your own dumb-ass fault when you hurt yourself.

I think this litigation-happy society needs some major work. People think they can make a life for themselves (and often can) by being "victims" of their own stupidity.
