correct. if the exposure was set correctly it would have brought out some depth in the clouds making it more interesting.

actually, its a plain grey haze right now... nothing but blah out there

Ya know that bit of cropping helped out quite a bit.

Don't get me wrong I am far from a pro but I think less open space to a picture is better. What I mean by this is that if it is just dead space it detracts from the overall content of the pictre.

You just have to learn when the appropriate time when to use the features. If you get the feel for it, you can take some bitchin pics. Here are some Ive taken in San Diego withe my Canon Powershot S40.
