Default Just ordered a Canon A80 +

$335 shipped on a brand new canon A80 from someplace on the net

$75 shipped on a 256 SanDisk 40x high speed compactflash card, and a CF-->USB reader from newegg.com

= $410 final cost

not bad considering the retail on a A80 is $400+7%tax = $428

horrible considering... I had just paid off my credit card last week

I'll should have everything by Thursday. So exciting. Of course it means I must get a job this summer to live... that $410 I just spent could have gone toward bills and food for 3 months - when I don't get my stipend pay from ROTC in the summer

Great camera. I've worked as a professional photographer and Canon gear is what I prefer. I have an EOS D60. In the last year and a half I've shot about 15,000 photographs on it with not one failure.

D60 review:

I'm looking for a digital camera and the Canon A80 is on that I have been looking at. How has the camera worked out for you?

I'm stuck between these two cameras

Minolta Dimage Xg

like its size and 30 fps in movie mode (with sound) in case I ever wanted to make a small clips.

and

Canon A80

Because i've heard nothing but good things about it. Down side is the size and slightly more expensive.

I basicly want an all- around camera that can make decent clips with sound and and can take great scenic pics in regular and low level light.

I love my A80 - I HIGHLY recommend it if its in the catagory you're looking for.

if you never adjust any settings and want a pocketcam, go with the Canon S50

Ditto here. I went with the A80 from Canon; it is brilliant. It can be configured for +90% of your photography needs, from stills to action, in nearly all lighting. Conversely, for simple point-and shoot-photography, the basic features are readily accessible and very intuitive.
