Olympus C-4000 opinions please
I have a chance to pick up an Olympus C-4000 off a guy I know for a pretty fair deal so I am considering it. I would just ask to borrow the camera for a couple days and play with it bu tit is also online for auction and his lady is touchy that way about the camera.
Anyways I read the review and it seems as though it has everything I need or want in a digi right now (except continuous frame speed but oh well) and I don't want a new camera.
Remember this thread is not about which camera is better so recomending other cameras is kind of pointless but what I am looking for is anyone who has experience either good or bad with them, pic quality issues, and anything else that may come to mind with this camera.
Thanx

it's crap don't listen to WiLL!
:rick:
depends on how much but it's a decent camera. I liked the G5 better for the size and such.

I think he has or had that one.
But I was joking about the camera being crap.
It's actually a very nice camera and worth $300
Also get a card reader if you don't already have one.

jk.
i have the olympus c4000. i love the body style of the camera. it fits in my palms with comfortably. it takes 4 AA batteries, which is a plus in my opinion because it adds needed weight to the camera to keep it sturdy and the ease of finding rechargables.
the menus will take some getting use to in the beginning, as with all cameras. but after a week or two messing with them, they will be fairly easy to scroll through.
the features on this camera has just about everything i need. shutter goes from 1/1000 to 16 seconds. the fstops goes from 2.8 - 11. you can control white balance as well as some other stuff.
the camera only take smart media cards, and they have limitations in speed and capacity (128mb) compared to the more popular compact flash.
i find that the zoom and auto focus is very slow. i found out when i took the camera to the autox event. having a quicker zoom and faster auto focus would definitly help.
manual focus is hard to use, or i havent found out how to properly use it. when on FULL manual, you use the up and down arrows to focus. it is also the same up and down arrows that controls the apeture. so you have to set the apeture before you do the manual focus. i find that annoying. extremely.
the macro and super macro modes are great. i think it focuses from 1.3 CM. i dont know of a lot of point and shoots that can do that.
battery life is decent. with a set of 2000mah batteries, you can get about 100-120 pics with flash and LCD on, and using the zoom motor on most of the pics.
this camera was up on top on many reviews, but that was a few years ago. so this is a pretty old camera.
