Default Computer noises :odd:

Every once in awhile when the computer has been on for more than an hour or so, i notice it makes this high pitched monotone sound coming from the CPU. I have NO idea what the hell it could be, and it mostly comes on when under load. I recently put in an ATi Radeon 9800 PRO 128 MB Video card in there, but it made the noise before then. Anyone know what it could be?

Alot of the CPU fans are thermo regulated. As the processor heats up, the fan speed increases. You can try blowing the dust off the fan blades. Sometimes the build up of dust can cause the blades to make wierd noises.

CPUs dont make noise. at least they shouldnt. it can be the CPU fan speeding up, since those things are generally really loud. or maybe the harddrive :eek3:

you unplugged all the fans when the computer is on? even the cpu fan? :awais: :awais: thats not that bright. cpus can burn in seconds.

but anyway, if its not a fan...the only other thing that makes noise is the fan in the power supply, optical drives and the harddrives. :dunno: start deducting.
