Default Anyone with Air Ride history please help...

Ok follow me on this one...

An ex-friend of my friend has an air ride system that he's looking to sell for $1000. I want to lower my Accord, so I'm thinking about trying to get it for like 5 or 6. I've never seen the setup, but according to my friend its a complete system, minus the lines, cause they were cut for his car, a 91 Teg LS.

First off.... Would a 2 door Teg system work on a 4 door Accord? (I've never installed an air ride system so I have no clue, but I've never done 3/4 of my other mods before, until I finally decided to just say F' it and try.) According to my boy it has all the bags, the pumps, tank and everything else, and it would just a bolt on with a few minor welds. He also told me that instead of using the other guys tank I should get 2 NOS bottles cause it would look better. (I have little room to spare in my trunk cause of my A/V system, so the NOS bottles sounds like a good idea.) What would be a good $$$ number to approach this guy with, trying to pick it up cheap?

Supposedly the reason he took it off of his Teg was because he was doing to many 3 wheel motions and he ended up twisting his whole frame. Is that possible?

Anyone with air ride history please help me out...

The system should be interchangeable as long as the bags can support the cars weight and you have enough pressure generated by the compressors.

I've considered putting my Vigor on bags because I have no other option to lower it enough. In your instance though, just go with some springs and shocks.

I should of mentioned this to...

The main reason I'm thinking about bagging the car is because my kit is only about 3" off the ground. And that's with zero suspension mods done. I bought Skunk2 coilovers but am to afraid to put them on cause I'll ruin my front bumper AGAIN...

My girl already cracked the front twice on a curb and a pothole. (Needless to say, she's not allowed to drive it anymore.)

I figure if I bag it, I don't have to worry as much. Plus it would be an added bonus for shows.

well you might want to talk with your buddy first and heres why:

1. they are probably cylinders on his teg b/c unless you have modifications to fit bags they dont have enough room.

2. if they are bags then no they wont work on your accord because there is not enough room. Trust me ive put many accords on air and havent yet put bags on one without modifying it.

3. if they are cylinders then they are most likely made for integras. Cylinders are not universal like bags.and bags are not universal persay either.

4.do oyu know what kind of kit it is b/c for 1000 bux i cant imagine it being a good one and if its not a good one than it could do you more bad than good.

5. the idea with the NOS bottles is retarded(sorry but it is) you can get a 7 gallon air tank and mount it in your trunk between the fenderwells and you lose very little trunk space.or you can take the rear bumper support out and mount the bottle in the rear bumper and you lose no space and you cant see it at all. I have hydraulics on my accord and unless its laid out or you see the switches or i told you it was juiced you would never know.

if you have any other questions about this you can email me at

and i just saw that you said if you bag it you wont have to worry as much well thats wrong esp. in cold climates. theres nothing worse than driving down the interstate in snow and blowing one of your air lines and your car go slamming on the ground at interstate speeds.(thats why i switched to hydraulics) and with air you need to carry around spare parts incase something does break and it does i promise.

if you really want air then i would say buy a new kit cause if he bent his frame from to much 3 wheelin which is retarded in an integra anyways then i wouldnt buy his kit.

that about sums it up.....there is no such thing as a bolt in bag system from my experience...welding and cutting are usually required......air struts are nice because they bolt into stock location....but like said above they are application specific.
