as someone who has subsisted on water alone for more than 2 weeks, i can assure you it is possible. quite a few people here have done it. yeah, you lose a hell of a lot of weight, but you will live.

untrue. a person can live for more than a month (approx. 40 days) without food.
now, water is another story.. you can only live about a week without anything to drink.
