500k...hmmm either houses are expensive around your area, or you want to look like a baller.

We just built a house a year and a half ago. Its 2000 square feet with full still unfinished basement. 2 car garage, and half an acre of property (we live in a community) The total price for everything was $185,000. But I guess cost of living is a lot lower here...even though its a resort area.

Mortgage rates are apparently rather good right now... I heard something on NPR about that... but beyond that... I dunno...

And yeah, in a populated part of California, 500K will buy you a midrange house in an OK neighborhood

Take a piece of advice from a banker. Buy the house. Real Estate is one of the best returns on money and one of the safest.

You might as well delete this post too as long as you are deleting all my other posts. I have nothing to say on the matter, apparently my oppions don't count anyway. This is the basement, no ontopic, lighten up dood!!!

BTW: I thought it wierd that you are discussing this on a board where a majority of the people are under 21. JMHO h:

tirod your advise is useless. Glad you are happy where you are but Don never expressed interest to move.

Don, if you have the means I say go for it. However, keep in mind, buying a house requires more money than just the price of the house. There is also insurance, furniture, appliances, property tax, etc. We spent close to $10K after we moved in to buy stuff for the house. Then a few thousand more in the past 3 years to make it our own. Good luck bud.
