This makes me so angry
Kansas appeals court backs harsher sentence for underage gay sex
TOPEKA - A Kansas appeals court ruled Jan. 30 that it is constituational to give a bisexual teenager a sentence 13 times longer than a straight teenager would recieve for the same crime.
Judge Henry W. Green Jr. wrote in the 2-1 decision that legislators could justify different penalties for heterosexual versus homosexual sodomy in plenty of ways, including higher health risks or an attempt to "encourage and preserve the traditional sexual mores of society."
The ruling rejected an appeal by Matthew R. Limon, who was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for having sex when he was 18 with a 14-year-old boy in 2000.
Kansas law makes any sexual activity involving a person under 16 illegal, hower, a 199 "Romeo and Juliet" law provides lesser penalties for consensual sex when one partner is 19 or under and the other partner's age is within four years. Had Limon's partner been a girl, he could have been sentenced at most to one year and three months in prison under the "Romeo and Juliet" law.
The article continues for several more paragraphs, showing commentary from the ACLU and the dissenting judge. If anyone wants the rest, I can post it.
All I can say is WHAT THE ****?
Cliffs notes: read the bold text.

I'm not going to say some guy that humped a 14 year old isnt a piece of shit, but 17 years is a long time, espeically when your only 18. Thats messed up how he could have boinked a 14 girl and only gotten one year.

Then again, 4 years age difference doesn't seem like anything once you're out of high school.

Did they just start bragging about it to their family or something? How did anyone find out?

This article doesn't have any of the court case details, and I'm not sure if they'd be available because of the whole protecting of minors thing. I imagine word got out just like anything else in high school... when people hook up, others find out or figure it out.
