reno at the movies: Amélie
i saw this movie last weekend and liked it so much that i bought the dvd.
i'm thinking lots of you won't like it since it's a foreign film (you have to read unless you speak french ), but in my opinion it was absolutely excellent.
it's about a sweet young french girl who's kind of an introvert, but one day decides she's going to try to help the people around her, and does so in very interesting, amusing ways. during this she finds her true love and starts setting up little missions for him in hopes of finally ending up with him (without him actually having met her).
it's a very interesting way of looking at life. one of the many things that i liked was how the narrator introduced new characters, he'd sum up peoples' lives in only a few sentences. funny thing is, a few sentences is all you need. oh yeah, and last but not least, the cinematography is great. for this one, you have to see the movie to see what i mean.
in conclusion, this movie is probably not for every one. it's a foreign film and a love story (though a non-conventional one). if you enjoy either, i do recommend you see it.
if you've already seen it, what did you think?

i haven't seen that film, but have you seen Run Lola Run? It's a german movie. It's about one period of this couples lives, and different ways they handle the situation and it's consequences.
I enjoyed it very much.
I may check this movie out. I've seen one or two french films. I wanna say the director is Truffo (he was a very popular french director). I know I misspelled his name.
I'm not the biggest foreign film fanatic, but my favorite foreign films is The Seventh Seal, I bought it on DVD....

I have at least 5 people buy that DVD every day, and thats a very high number for a non new release. Seems to be popular with older chicks. I would buy it if I wasnt a cheap ass.
