Default if you had 80k on ONE CAR ONLY...edited

what car would you buy? granted that it would have to be able to haul around golf clubs and be able to handle michigan winters?

An old Land Rover from the 70s... costs less than $10k but they can withstand anything.

Maybe up there... 80K could get you a patch of lawn here... maybe 10x15"?

I'd take a mid 70's jaguar, restore it, and transplant a ford engine into it. That, or I'd try to buy a used porsche 911TT... maybe?

I would use 40K to paydown the principle on the mortgage and then use the other 40K to buy the Elise.

as for the golf clubs there is the passenger seat and for winter use I can buy a beater for like $1K and use that h:
