Firewire external HDD

I picked up a case today for $50 that I can throw my HDDs into
I have been needing one of these for a while.

It doesn't say what chipset they're using for the FW-IDE bridge, which might mean questionable transfer rates for DV usage...
You really want at least an Oxford911 chipset when handling DV...

I have over 2,000 gigs of drives I just don't use them so now I can at least use some of that space conveniently

I am basically using it only as a storage device and as I need the video files I will transfer it over to the laptops HD rather than trying to work off the firewire setup.

the max theoretical transfer rate of ieee-1394 is 50MB/s which is 400Mb/s.
so all you need is an ATA-66hdd. which btw is what you find in an external 1394 hdd
