VANOS is a cam phasing system, VTEC is a cam switching system. They have nothing in common.

isnt vanos continuous? unlike vtec, which has a crossover point

There are a bunch of versions of it. I think in some cases it is continuously variable.
The difference is that VANOS adjusts the cam timing using the cam gears, while VTEC actually switches to a different cam profile.
