in the bimmer, it comes on automatically when needed. I've never had it come on or not come on when it was needed.
there are two or three light sensors that the computer uses to decide if the light should be on or not.
in addition it will turn on the headlights automatically if you use the wiper or if the wiper turns on (when set to of course automatic mode :rofl: )
