Default girlfriend got hacked, need computer advice/help!!!

Guys i need your help!!!

My girlfriend just called me very upset because someone broke into her hotmail last night and forwarded her ex boyfriend some of my emails to her. She thinks that I may have done this to show him he has no chance of getting her back, and is upset I broke into something of hers like this. I did not do this though and when I asked her if she had an easy password like “*****” for someone to be able to guess and break into her account, the word I gave, happened to be it! So now she is really having trouble believing that I didn’t break into it because I guessed her password correctly. Her ex is the one that setup her hotmail account and she told me that he knew her password.

My hypothesis is that he got into her hotmail and forwarded the emails to himself so he could confront her about them as an innocent party who magically received the emails from her account. I need a way to show her I didn't do it and regain her trust 100%. Is there anyway you can see from which connection/computer her hotmail was accessed from in between the hours of 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. this morning (01/27/04) when the emails were forwarded to her ex?

I need to show her it wasn’t from my computer, please help me. I feel like I'm getting framed.

Thanks

i'm about to head over to her apartment to talk some more and i can tell she wants to believe me but just isnt sure yet.

i'm also taking my laptop (HP with Microsoft ME) in case one of you know of a way to show her the history on my laptop proving i didnt get into her email account last night.

i need solid evidence so i know she believes me 100%. evidence showing who really did get into her account would be outstanding.

please help!

Show her the header files. If it wasn't from your pc the outgoing pc IP will not be the same as yours.

you can find out what time the emails were sent, but you will not be able to see where the connection to her account originated

If he looks at the header files it will show the IP address of the starting pc. It would also show the name of the starting pc.

except that the person who receives the email can see the IP address, not the person who sent it

Thats why he needs to ask the ex to help him. Yes its a double edged sword, but if the gf is that insecure its gotta be done.
