:werd: indeed, John.
In my experience, there is no socioeconomic predisposition for rude behavior. I've had people under my supervision that made $9.00 an hour be just as anti-social, ignorant and dammed rude as customers that made $9.00 in about 45 seconds. |
From my observations, people's self-assessment of their wealth and how wealthy they present themselves as generally determines their behavior more than their actual wealth. I know plenty of snobby people that have far less money than they would appear to possess, and I know plenty of people of rather high financial standing that are perfectly humble and for the most part feel no need to put on airs.
I do on the other hand, discriminate against stupid people. |
my family is upper-class. we have nothing against people of lower or middle class except for a few particular groups in general. but we aren't stuck up as most people since we didn't grow up with money, so maybe thats a bad example.

the fact that they think they deserve better treatment because they pay a higher price for something... is 1 reason ;)

are you classist? i could care less what "class" someone belongs to. it's none of my business how much money someone does or doesn't have in their bank account. i have to say, this attitude of yours really stinks. why do you have such strong feelings about wealth? did a rockefeller kill your dog or something? |

well shit. if I paid $4K for a first class airplane ticket then I would certainly expect more and better service than someone who paid $600 for a economy seat. |

yeah I was thinking that too. If I pay for better service, I better get better service :) |
I figure it this way....I only treat people as well as they treat me or as I expected to be treated in return, if they treat me rudely then they get treated the same way, if they treat me kindly then I return the kindness.
It really has nothing at all to do with the amount of money they do or don't posess because the last thing I do is ask what their wallet looks like. Anyone can dress up in what looks like a very expensive suit or have nice clothes in their closet and still be broke as a joke. You have to give respect to get respect....its just that simple sometimes. |
