i thought about that but who would actually notice gunmetal brake calipers behind [soon to be] gunmetal wheels on a black car?

In that case.. if they're gonna be gunmetal.. I'd go with a gloss black..
But that's just me...

The only red calipers I like.. that I've seen... are the ones that come that way... :dunno:

what about if i get em powdercoated? the same texture as b18c5 valve covers?

I'd say go with VHT's High Temp Black. Durable as all hell.

Whatever you decide to do, red or black, take the time to prep the surface really well. And use paint that is engineered to withstand the hundreds of degrees of heat that the brakes will invariably face.

Red calipers on a black car don't scream "rice" to me...:dunno: But peeling red spray paint on calipers certainly does.

i would say .... gunmetal .... but red looks sexy but i cant say ive seen it done on a car like yours
