Aight WiLL, here goes

I have a Fosgate HX2 DVC 4ohm sub
the amp is a Lanzar OPTIdrive 500.2

sub specs:
500rms
1000max

amp specs:
250rms x 2 @4ohms
450rms x 2 @2ohms
900rms x 1 @4ohms mono

How should I run the sub?
I was thinking 4ohms stereo.
Will running the coils like that ruin the sub? If yes, please explain.

i would do 2OHM and use 1 ch of the amp. itll be getting 450watts, which is only slightly off the RMS of the sub.

i'd just run it wired in parralell to 1 channel. i've done a setup like that before. 99% of the time, bass isn't stereo so you won't need to worry. and you can buy the same sub again and run that one off the other channel

just because its wired in parrallel to 1 channel doesn't mean its going to blow.
