Second day of actually playing, my friend has been helping me out, ITS SO MUCH fun. My first song that I've learned is "God took the day off" by AFI or something i forgot the name of the song, and I've learned like the first 2 versus of the song but im not that good at it. For anyone else who plays guitar if you keep practicin do you get better or something? cause right now i pretty much suck. And its slowly getting easier.

Practice is EVERYTHING. I've been playing 13 years now, and I teach guitar at the local music store... and practice is 99% of good guitar playing. I usually play 2 hours a day, minimum, sometimes up to four if I can spare the time.

Keep playing a lot, listen to everything, play as many different things as you can, and don't get discouraged.

 

You'll never get anywhere playing songs from day 2. Trust me, I've been playing for over a decade. You'll always be playing in someone's shadow with no hope of being original.

Quit learning songs, do that if you want ass and impress the preteen chicks. If you want to play to really play learn chords, scales and how song structures form. Learn the 1,3,5 theory and the 2,4,6 theory. Or the 1,3,5 minor theory, etc.

Yes I sound like an asshole, but hey someone's gotta give you some proper guitar sense.
