Default speed reading classes

So i'm a slow reader basically. I've never read much all my life and i read pretty damn slow. I know taht once i'm off to the university and law school i'll have tones of readying to do. My teacher recommended it to me so i'm thinking of finding something liek this. Has anyone ever taken them or heard of people? or just your basic imput on this stuff.

heres something you can do for free. read. read. and read. the more you do, the better you will do at it. then you learn to skim and take notes on what is important.

there are a lot of infomercials at night on speed reading though.

just practice, you'll get better. I stopped reading books for a couple of years and felt like my brain stopped....started reading again and felt much better, it's like exercise for the brain.

Just read a lot...books, magazines, articles on the web (because most message boards have terrible grammar!).

You will develop your own technique of reading. I can read at close to 800 words per minute while retaining a minimum 75-80% comprehension rate according to the tests I did in a college reading lab. One technique I developed was eliminating words like "a", "the" "to", and other connecting words. However, this technique doesn't work with everyone.

But the best tip is to just read a book. Visit the library. Your taxes pay for it so take advantage of it!

I did for a while, and all they teach you is pretty much common sense. Like focus and pay attention to what you're reading. There are some tricks, like using a finger to pace yourself and trying to read a couple words with each movement of the eye, but they all take practice and basically once you develop your own style those things go away.
