Default computer people- how do i save a pic of my desktop??

I need to save a picture of the desktop on my computer and I can't figure out for the life of me how to do this. Not the background or the wallpaper, I mean like if i took a camera and took a picture of what was on my monitor.

How do I do this, I know there is a way. Someone please help me figure this out, it's been driving me nuts

thanks

You guys are awesome!!

Thanks a lot. I've been searching how to do this for a while for my computer class and nobody in my dorm knew how to do it. It was frustrating because I know a pretty good amount about computers and couldn't do this.

Cool, I'm happy now
