Hijacking in races
I know no one probably gives a f*ck, but the Paris-Dakar rally has fascinated me for a while. I just found some rather interesting history on the rally. The stages for today and tomorrow were cancelled because of militia activity and the bikes were airlifted to the rest stop and the cars and trucks send on a safer road route. So they did some history on prior incidences like this, turns out there were numerous occasions when cars, trucks and bikes were hijacked in the desert by the local militia and held hostage. Just gives me one more reason to hold the guys that do the Dakar rally in awe.

hrm what are you talkin about, sinec u brough it up give us some more detail about the rally, where's it at, what's the race about how long? what's the prize? who races?!! damn you!

Its broken into bikes, cars and trucks. Cars as in SUVs and buggies, and trucks as in really big trucks. Speed is covering it everyday at 6:30PM EST. www.dakar.com is the site. Quite possibly the ultimate endurance race, some say if you complete the Dakar you are among the elite.
