Default Good idea?

To play console games on a computer monitor? I have a 17" comp monitor laying around and I was wondering if it's a good idea to play PS2 games on it. Does this greatly reduce the life of the monitor?

if you can actually hook it up. computer monitors don't use the standard TV hookups... you may or maynot already know this, I don't know.

it will not hurt your monitor anymore than having your monitor plugged into your computer

Which device did you use to hook it up with? I've seen these VGA box things on ebay, but I don't know if these things are legit. Could you give me details on where you got the adapter, or which one you used, etc. Thanks.
