Lights on RC car project
Yep started stage one last night. Our RC 4x4 truck will now get fully equipped with lights for some night time fun.
Stage 1: Roll bar lights: using a set of 8 720 mcd yellow LEDs powered by a single 9V battery. The bed of the truck will now have a cover under which I'll put the battery and the major wires. The light housing is going to be the difficult part, I am thinking getting some small project boxes from Radio Shack and using Lexan to create the "glass" covering.
Stage 2: Headlights: this will be tricky as I need to tear apart the truck and mount the lights inside it. Using 3000 mcd clear lights powered by a 9V battery going through a 5V regulator. Battery mount I ain't sure about, thinking or running power off the main battery or the battery on the truck bed for the roll bar lights.
My initial idea was to have all of the lights RC controlled, but I may not be able to do that because of the lack of space inside the truck for mounting a new RC board.
I did an initial run last night with 4 yellow 720 mcd lights on the front nerf bar. It was pretty cool, had enough light to go around the driveway without hitting anything.
My grand master plan is to mount a camera inside the cockpit and run the truck from a laptop. Of course the truck is my brother's and I dunno how keen he is going to be about me tearing his truck apart, so I might have to buy me a truck.
Pictures you ask... well someone gimme a digicam.

I am going with electric because I know of way too many people who've spent too much money on gas cars. Thinking about a 1:10 scale Impreza from Tamiya. I can get one for about $60 or so, doing all the lights will be another $20 or so.

This is true I have around $800 in my car because something is always wrong with it.
