I think it happened to me last week :thinking:



So I'm on an off ramp where there is a homeless guy w/ a sign asking for money. I have never given money to homeless people like that in my life, but I had a dollar sitting in my change drawer so I took it out and gave it to the guy. I'd just end up blowing it on a pop or candy or something, so who gives. So anyway he says god bless and what not, so then I go to a restaraunt to buy a gift certificate for my dad and my debit card gets declined 5 times in a row even though I had sufficient funds.

I felt all good about myself for doing that, but maybe it was God's way of telling me that the dollar I donated is just contributing to the homeless man's alcohol addiction.

i don't believe in karma

 

i never really believed in giving money to the poor...my parents work as cashiers in a convenient store..i am tempted to ask them for some foodstamps and hand that out instead....or give out food instead...but i know the homeless people w/the signs "homeless and hungry" will get mad at me because it's NOT cash..so they cant buy alki or cigs or more drugs

 

me either, haha, my girlfriend says that she'll only give money if they are missing a limb and they have a dog with them.

yep i've never given money to homeless.

i've however asked if they need money for food, then take them to a togos and buy them a sandwich (that is before togos closed down) when I went to berkeley.
