Default Video card question:

I have a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB (4X AGP) video card in my system with a 2.4 ghz P4, 1024MB of RAM. So I play Counter Strike a lot, which is a pretty old game, so this card should have no problem with the game right? Well, I constantly get low fps and choke and all kinds of crap going on in the game on pretty much every server. THEN, I was just switching from CS to IE and then back and then my system rebooted itself. :eh: Is my vid card crap? Or is it something else? Thx.

Well, counterstrike is the only game I play that really tests the vid card. And yeah I have catalyst 3.9.

:werd:

I used to run it on an old 32 meg card and never dropped frames I have also ran it through the onboard vid card and it ran smoothly.

Try running Warhammer40,000, Black and White or even Savage and those will give your card a good run for its money....especially Black and White when you get into some serious battling with it.

Perhaps you have spyware that has found its way into your system and its lagging it down really bad Do you happen to use kazaa or anything of the sort?

I know this is what happened to my system and it took me a while to realize it and fix the problem.

Well it's not just low FPS but the whole crashing thing and then I got those spots on the screen briefly. you know the ones that are like RGB that are left when a window is closed, they are where the edge of the window was or something. I wonder if my card is overheating or something.
