if a cop see your radar detector will he or she pull you over?

 

I am not sure, but I think this is enforced as much as the no cell phone while driving law.

 

Detectors are legal in the state of New York. As for individual city or county laws, I have no idea.

I live in Virginia, the only state in which they are illegal to use. We can be pulled over for it, too. When you drive into VA from MD or NC, you see these lovely huge signs that say "RADAR DETECTORS ILLEGAL"

I had one in my pocket yesterday while I was being harassed by cops who thought I was breaking into cars. :chuckles:

 

Definitely legal in NY...I've been pulled over before with it on.

The cell phone law is enforced all the time where I am, all my friends have gotten tickets :dunno:

 

It's legal.

But it's always smarter to hide it if you get pulled over.

 

VA, DC are the ONLY areas where its illegal.


although some cops may try and get your for obstruction of view, with it plastered on your windsheild

 

I have not heard anyone getting pulled over around here, Westchester Cty, NYC, etc. When you drive around there too everyone is still on their phones. Oh well...

 

Yes, they are legal according to state law, but specific jurisdictions have laws that outlaw them. Usually they are conspicuously posted when you enter the town/city though. On a side note, they don't work.

yup legal in NY got pulled over had it on the windshield cop asked what that was for I just answered i like to know where you guys are. he said nothing.


about the cell phones they definately enforce that. I have a ticket on my record to prove it h:
