Default network adapter through USB?

My roommate is running this 2.4Ghz network adapter that utilizes a USB port. Her internet is every slow, where as my internet and our other roommates internet is normal speed...not to mention she is closer to the router.

Could it be possible that her internet is slow because the adapter is using USB whereas mine and my other roommates isnt?

I'm trying to figure out why its so slow for her and this is my only explanation.

USB = 1.1MB/s

btw just because it's closer it doesn't mean it's getting a better signal.

USB 1 is slower than ethernet but not slow enough to matter for your standard internet connection.

(Not that I would ever, ever use a USB NIC.)

well I realize that its not the best for networking, but she was on a budget and a usb adapter was all she could afford. I did everything short of (re)installing drivers to figure out what was wrong...but I doubt that they would even make a USB adapter if it was significantly worse than ethernet :dunno:

Why not just get a network card?

They cost a total of like 15 bucks at Frys, or Office Depot even and USB sucks for any connection really.
