Default new brakes on a car

is it true that if your brakes are new you shouldn't brake too hard or they will get damaged?

They could get glazed, and thus not stop as well... take your braking easy for the first 250 miles after putting new pads in

That would help the braking! :fawk:

Nah... when a brake pad glazes... it forms a hard glassy layer on the contact patch with the rotor, thus making the pad grip less...

The key is to break them in well. You need to bed the pads with the rotors.

If you glaze the rotors, you can sand them off... but if you glaze the pads, I do believe you're SOL...
