The Ford GT is rolling homage to the GT40 MkI through MkIV [of the mid 1960's].

It kicked Enzo Ferrari's boys off the podium - back to back - at Le Mans in 1965 and 1966.

The GT40 is one of the icons of the history of motorsport , along with the Lotus Elan, the McLaren F1, the Porsche 917K, etc...

That you were unaware of this grand history is a little disturbing to me...:shocked:.

even though its super fast and and won back to back le mans races its still kind of ugly!! the new gt is a bit more stylish for an exotic car and its easier on the eyes!! i think its the hood that kills it, although practical (i assume)

 

The vents in the hood are to help air flow through the radiators, since they're up front while the engine is in back.

 

on a track, it ownz the 360 challange stradale and 911 gt3... by more than 2seconds in the lap... but yea its ugly and made by ford

 

I've seen a GT40 kit car in real life and it is by far one of the most breath taking vehicles I have ever seen. I see Ferraris around and they can't hold a candle to the hot looks of the GT40.

Someday when I'm older I'm building my own GT40 kit car.

And I would take a new Ford GT over any Ferrari, Lambo, or Porsche.
