I belive people can change, but you need to subject them to a totally different environment. They will most likely adapt as that's what humans do. They must also have the will to change.
I've become a different person over the years. It all depended on who my friends were at the time. I like to think of myself as a combination of all the positive traits I see in my friends.(this is my perception of them of course)

For the most part its true. small things about you can change, but for the most part your personality and who you are stays pretty stable from adolesence to your death.

any event in someone's life is enough to change them. for instance...losing my dad changed my outlook on life tremendously. graduating high changed me. starting massage school and learning the things that i am has changed me.
and the cheater thing is NOT always true.
