Default Just called Sprint...

...and it seems that I have fulfilled my contract. I can get out of it with no cancellation fee whenever I feel like it, plus there's that number portability dealie now which is even better.

Not sure if I can get a better deal from another company and I'm pretty happy with the service I have from Sprint but it's nice to know that if some really super cool phone comes out then I can switch providers no problem.

Just be prepared. When you switch providers, you can request a number port from the old provider. The first thing they will do is test to make sure that your number can be ported. To be eligible for this, you must be in one of the top 100 US markets. If your number can be ported, be prepared to wait anywhere from 24 hours from the time of activation, to one week. Right now, number porting is a customer service nightmare. Also, you will need to keep both phones charged during this process. Your new phone will be able to make calls before the port is completed, but will not receive them. Your old phone will receive any incoming calls. The porting process will cancel you from Sprint without you having to call them. Just be prepared to pay your last bill and any fees they may tack on for the port. (Some wireless companies do, some don't.)

I'm not so concerned about keeping the number if it's a pain. Mainly I'm just stoked that I can get a Nokia 6230 when it comes out.

I work for a company in NC that sells new lines of service for AT&T, Alltel, and Cingular.
