Mike: I own an FTb. Nice camera. Also have an AE-1 and an A-1.
Personally I think that Nikon made the best cameras until autofocus caught on. Things looked bad for Canon while they were making AF lenses out of the FD mount (the T-series bodies) but once they came out with the EOS cameras and EF mount they took off. I like the old school Nikons more than Canons but they didn't come out with a solid AF SLR until the N90s while Canon came out with a solid line of AF SLRs with their own dedicated system of lenses. Which is why I have a manual Nikon and an automatic Canon.
