Default Anyone knows exactly what happens to you when you inhale refrigerant?

I inhaled r12 today and r134a the other day.

I've heard it stays in your system forever.

What is the health risk when working around this stuff? Thanks...

If you haven't died yet, I think you'll be fine.

I know you can get frosbite from touching it since it's sooo cold. Apparently I guess you can suffocate from it. :nervous: No wonder why I had a little difficulty breathing.

yes, it was a test in A-school, lol

R-12 is heavier than air, therefore it settles in your lungs, displacing the oxygen, causing you to suffocate.

If you go to the doc (HIGHLY RECCOMENDED) you will be layed at a severe incline (almost upside down) so the refrigerant will drain out of your lungs. After a couple of hours of hanging upside down (depending on how much you inhaled) you should be fine

They don't have that on re-fill tanks.
