Default getting new car

i know buying a new car requires you to bring in proof of insurance before they hand you the keys, but is it possible to get all the insurance stuff done instantly, such as transferring existing policy from another car over to the new one and drive home the new car immediately on the same day?

When I bought my GS-R, the salesman set it up with my insurance company. Took my car home on the same day.

you should be covered no matter what car you buy with your existing policy. You just have to notify your insurance after your purchase.

you're covered by dealer insurance, but they make you sign a note that says you will provide insurance for the car.

all you need to do is call your agent the day before you buy the car or the same day and give him the VIN.

From a civic to a GSR my insurance went up $8.

Some insurance companies state that they will cover your car for ~48 hours after purchase w/o a policy on the vehicle. I know State Farm does.

Yeah, it's just so that you can use your current proof of insurance to cover the car before you get to your insurance agent's office. It also covers cars you're test driving or take home, etc.

Though it only takes ~30 seconds for them to print one out.
