way back, ever since imports came around, with their superior gas milage, the explanation for that was that they must run on rice, since they're too effecient to run on gas... it was a joke, but this dates WAY back before the WWW, 60-70's

I remember when rice was a common derogatory term used by most tried and true red blooded Americans (good ol boys) who hated anything japanese... they would use the rice term... i.e. Rice Rocket; sport bikes as opposed to the big hogs we make in the US... or Rice Burner; little econo box japanese cars as opposed to the monsterous mounds of gas guzzling steel that we made in the US... etc.
