I went up to Crystal Mountain, first time this season, it was GREAT powder everywhere. I've been boardin for about 4 years and yesterday was definetly one of the funnest times yet!!! Anyone who wants to try skiing/snowboarding for the first time I advise you to try its so much fun...!

 

I've only gone snowboarding once and I'm f*cking hooked. I need to go again this season.

I'm really bad at snowboarding. The last time my family went to the resort I spent half the time sitting in our villa watching HBO because I was too banged up to go on the slopes. I would have like a day of boarding, a day of sitting on my ass, then when I was fine again I didn't learn my lesson and grabbed a board again and got banged up again instead of just getting a pair of skis and being fine.

i suggest trying to ski before boarding, just to get balance down... they are both different things, but skiing is a lot easier, itll bring your confidence up :thumbup:

 

This will be my 17th season on skis.

I got my season pass all set, just waiting for snow now.

 

Wrong!!!

I taught for three years and the hardest people to teach were those who skiied before because the physics are 100% different from board to ski.

It is easier to go in with a clean slate and just listen to the instructor and trust them to teach you correctly. It has zero in common with skateboarding except trick names, it is more like a combo of surfing and water skiing than any other sport out there.

Don't feel bad though because for all the hype that surrounds Timberline here in Oregon the truth is that the snow and the terrain really suck the big one Heavy wet crap snow and rarely any real powder....but at least its not the boiler plate ice the East coast gets :lmao:
