does it automatically forward everybody on your list the new name or must you contact everyone

 

you mean AOL aol? or AOL AIM?

I cancelled my AOL account a couple of weeks ago and my buddy list was deleted. Since I'm using AIM now with a new screen name, I had to try to remember everybody's SNs.

So no...it doesn't move over, well...not that I know of

 

with AIM at least you can save your buddy list and load it on to a new name, not sure with AOL though
