i use microfiber towel

gently brushing against the screen, never putting much pressure if any on the screen itself.

 in that case i would use a cotton swap dipped in water to wet, but squeeze out the excess water before using it on the screen.

gentle rub (very lightly) in a straight up and down motion and repeat until the stain is gone.

as for finger prints, you'll probably need to use alcohol but that's not a good idea so try the cotton swap method above.

a clean, soft terry cloth towel and a light dab of water works well, too.
