my friend is an ME graduate. said any real engineering being done by car manufacturers was with the domestic companies. said the honda stuff he found jobs for were too engineering relevant. he felt the real engineering of engines and so forth would be overseas.
That's what he got when he was searching for jobs with car manufacturers.
