Default Router question

So I finally broke down and got me a router for my home network.

In setting it up is it best to have a computer that is always hooked into the network to be the managing computer or is it going to matter at all?

I want to load the management software into my laptop but I connect and disconnect it all the time....whats the word nerd?

the router takes care of everything. you don't need to load any software anywhere for it to work all the time.

OK thats what I thought but I wanted to make sure.

The software on the computer is just for access to the router settings etc. and the router should be for the most part self managing once it is setup.

K thanks a lot.

And Will you also were correct in using this thnking

Some routers have a web interface. Just type the IP address into the address line of your browser, and hoila.... you will be looking at your router settings. (that's on any 'puter on your network, by the way)
