My room mate and I own many, (Stargate SG-1 (three seasons), Taken, Buffy, Angel, 24 (two seasons), The Shield...) and I was very impressed with the level of detail, as well as the story line. Tom Hanks did an impressive job producing it and I must say that my favorite episode was the one he directed, Crossroads. If you can find the time to get into it again, I'd encourage you to do so.
I love Episode 6 - Bastogne

Is the book any different compared to the movie? Does it go into more detail?

It's really detailed. They leave out a lot of stuff in the series. I read the book twice before watching the movie. If you like this topic, all the books by Stephen Ambrose are good.
